How to schedule a session with your tutor
Getting started with your first session is quick and straightforward. This guide walks you through the booking process from start to finish.
Before You Begin
Make sure you have completed the following before booking:
- Accepted your tutor's invitation and signed in to your account
- Added a payment method if you plan to pay by card
- Reviewed your tutor's available session types
Step 1: Browse Available Sessions
Navigate to Sessions in the left sidebar. You will see a calendar view showing all open time slots your tutor has made available.
Use the date picker at the top to scroll forward or backward by week. Available slots appear in green. Slots that are already booked or expired are grayed out and cannot be selected.
> Tip: If you don't see any open slots, your tutor may not have generated availability yet. Reach out to them directly to request times.
Step 2: Select a Time Slot
Click any available slot to open the booking details panel. Here you will see:
- Session type (e.g., 60-minute Math, 90-minute SAT Prep)
- Location (in-person address or online via Google Meet)
- Price per session
If you have an active package with remaining credits for this session type, the credit will be applied automatically — no payment required at checkout.
Step 3: Confirm and Pay
Click Book Session to proceed. Depending on your payment situation:
- Package credit available: The session is booked instantly. No payment page.
- No package credit: You will be redirected to a secure Stripe checkout page. Enter your card details and complete payment.
Once payment is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email with session details and a calendar invite.
Rescheduling a Session
You can reschedule a confirmed session up until the cancellation window closes. To reschedule:
- Go to Sessions and find your booked session
- Click the ⋯ menu and select Reschedule
- Pick a new available time slot of the same session type
- Confirm — your booking moves to the new slot at no extra charge
> Note: Rescheduling is not available once you are inside the cancellation window. Contact your tutor directly if you need to make a last-minute change.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation windows are set by your tutor. If you cancel before the cutoff:
- Card payments are refunded in full (3–5 business days)
- Package credits are returned to your package balance
Cancellations after the cutoff are not eligible for a refund. Check your tutor's policy in your account settings.
